RCIA

Rite Of Christian Initiation Of Adults

Each year on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil,  thousands are baptized into the Catholic Church in the United States. Parishes welcome these new Catholics through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Parish will be starting another RCIA Program  beginning soon. Classes are held weekly and will continue through the Easter Season.  Babysitting will be available.

RCIA is an inquiry program that is intended for those who are non-Catholics with an interest in learning more about the Catholic faith. It is also for those who may have been away from the Catholic Church and would like to learn more about the Catholic faith and possibly return to the Church. RCIA is also for those who are professed Catholics who for some reasons are not living their faith by attending Mass on Sunday or celebrating the sacraments of the Church on a regular basis.

RCIA is an opportunity to learn, to reconnect, and to address impediments that may be standing in the way of fully embracing and living the fullness of the Catholic faith.

If you or anyone you know is interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, please invite them to call Father Thomas Kelly in the parish office at 205-991-5488, ext. 6  or email him at olvchurch@olvsch.com to get more information or to discuss their relationship with the Church. If no one answers, please leave your name, number and a brief message and he will return your call. It may be the best thing you’ll ever do for yourself or for someone whom you care about.

More information can be found at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops site RCIA page.
